Acupuncture in Africa

In August 2009, I had the great pleasure of traveling to Kenya and Uganda with the Pan African Acupuncture Project (PAAP), to continue the training of local health care providers in the use of acupuncture. All of the trainees participated in a three part course where they were taught how to perform and incorporate acupuncture protocols into the treatment of their patients.

These skills enable them to offer treatment in situations where standard medical supplies are unavailable (which is too often the case), and afford them new tools with which to provide their patients relief from a wide range of ailments.

We saw around 140 patients each day, many of whom returned to report their immediate improvement, and to receive follow up treatments.

PAAP provides its trainees and graduates with free Acupuncture supplies so that they may continue to utilize their training and grow as practitioners. For more information about PAAP go to www.panafricanacupuncture.org.

I would once again like to thank all of my Patients for their understanding and support while I took time away from their regular treatments in order to volunteer through PAAP. And thank you to all of my friends, family, and patients who donated to the fundraising for this trip. I would not have been able to take part in this incredible experience without your help. Please click here to see the pictures.
