All acupuncturists are required by law to use only disposable (single use), pre-sterilized, stainless steel needles when administering treatment. California has always had the highest standards of education in the Nation with regards to Chinese Medicine. Currently, students in this state are required to complete a total of 3,000 hours of combined didactic and clinical education, and must be certified in “Clean Needle Technique”. In addition, students must take a comprehensive exam to graduate in order to receive a Masters Degree in Traditional Chinese Medicine, and to be eligible to sit for the state licensing exam.
